Mineral
A rugged mineral or polished stone holds a whole world in its form. Naturally rough or worn smooth by water, time, or the careful hand of a lapidary, minerals carry color and pattern that no human craft can fully replicate. Jasper stratifies in canyon layers. Chrysocolla swirls like shallow tropical water. Rhodonite blushes with quiet warmth. Each stone is a geography unto itself, a compressed record of the earth’s long, unhurried making.
Placed atop Kathy Cady’s ceramic vessels, a mineral becomes both handle and heart. Something to reach for. Something to rest the thumb against and simply be still.
