Raku Fired
Born of fire, smoke, and instinct, raku is perhaps the most theatrical of all ceramic traditions. Each piece is thrown on the wheel, glazed, then pulled glowing from the kiln and surrendered to the unpredictable alchemy of post-firing reduction. The results are gloriously varied: delicate webs of carbon-drawn line tracing across ivory porcelain like ancient script, crazing networks of crackle glaze mapping the surface like a dry lakebed, or breathtaking metallic lusters shifting from deep copper to violet and rainbow iridescence as light moves across the form. No two pieces can ever be alike. Raku does not allow it.
